The Etrex Vista combines a precision altimeter and flux gate compass, you can take a sight on a distant landmark and project a waypoint to that point by entering the estimated distance. The Vista is also designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS).
